Idea for Proven Practice: Symantec eVault

So we're gearing up to implement Symantec's eVault solution. It is supposed to be coming online sometime before the end of the year. We currently have our Exchange 2003 running on our VI, so that is where our eVault is going to run as well. Once we have out MASSES of email archived, we are planning for the Exchange 2007 upgrade, also on our VI. I can create proven practices for these both, if there is enough interest, as we are implementing them. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Tim

It gets my vote! I would also be interested in seeing what you did to run Exchange on VI... my experience is that you don't have to do anything special, but having someone like you post the fact that you did it, and you followed the standard installation steps, perhaps backed up by some data like # mailboxes, # guests / exchange instances, and the VM configs... perhaps even the underlying resource pool / cluster / host / storage / network config - now THAT would be very popular!

We are in the same boat here. We are installing Evault then once the old mail has been ingested, working on a plan for a migration of Exchange 2003 on physical to Exchange 2007 running virtual. As a matter of fact I just created the VM's for Evault and the SQL sever. Will keep you posted on our efforts. If anyone has any specific questions I will be happy to try to answer them.

Could Tim be the first community member to provide a proven practice on his own steam... I'm sure I could think of a prize... go Tim!

I am also interested in seeing how this goes for you too. My team has just implemented eVault with Exchange 2007 users over at JPL/NASA. We battled many issues with configurations and getting it to work for the client's interface. Many Symantec support calls later, we managed to get it working with multiple user experiences spanning from Windows to MAC clients. I can provide some insight into this if needed, but it would be nice to see how it goes for you!

Thanks!

Can anyone say where this went? We are working on virtualizing Symantec Evault and were concerned with the database and the manager servers
